On Friday, October 4th, the homecoming court lined the field at half time to crown Katie Cobb the 2013 Homecoming Queen. First runner up was awarded to Jacosha Simpson, and second runner
up to Ally Nisbett. “Well, I can definitely say I wasn’t expecting it, but it gave me a different kind of happiness and gratefulness to know that I have so many people who are there for me,” says Katie Cobb. On Friday, students crowded inside the gymnasium for the homecoming assembly, where the contestants for Homecoming Queen were announced. After the assembly, students returned

to their first block to vote for their queen. Later in the school day, the bleachers filled with Bulldog colors for the beginning of the pep rally, which involved several activities for the classes to compete in. Based on a cumulative score of categories such as class cheer, class game, class skit, class float, and class shirt count, students had the opportunity to win the 2013 Homecoming Spirit Stick. Everyone responded to the class cheerleaders with their loudest shouts, which echoed across the school. The pep rally was then led into the class game: a scavenger hunt. As the objects were announced, student council members raced through the stands to fellow class mates and gathered them to hand to Mr. Gordon, who announced the winner for each round. Already pumped up with spirit, each class performed their class skit for the school. Sophomores’ skit was a battle against Riverside, juniors’ was a Miley Cyrus party scene, and seniors’ was a class reunion. In addition to skits, each class created their own homecoming float to represent their classes’ school spirit. The themes included a dog house, a party bus, and the man in the moon. During half time on Friday night,
seniors across the stadium went crazy as they were announced the winners in every category, and presented with the Spirit Stick. Homecoming week was a huge success, and it brought the classes
