The senior class had a huge victory on Thursday, February 20, as they dominated in the Powder Puff game. The seniors first played against the sophomores at 6:00 p.m. and were pumped up to show the underclassmen how much they were “in it to win it.” The coin toss was held at the fifty-yard line for the seniors to call, which they won so they chose to keep the ball. The seniors’ offense racked up points on the scoreboard and their defense never let the sophomores gain a single touchdown. The final score for the seniors vs. sophomores’ game was 26-0, leading the seniors into the championship game. The second game was held at 7:00 p.m. for the juniors vs. freshmen. Juniors played a tough game and never let the freshmen get past them for a score. The final score was 22-0, and it was time for the seniors and the juniors to line up on the field for the championship game. Both teams faced each other at the fifty-yard line for the seniors to call the coin toss, which they won choosing to receive the ball first. Both teams were playing tough, but the junior’s offense proved to be just as determined to win as the seniors, as they scored the first touchdown in the game. Even though the juniors scored first, the seniors were eager to play hard and win the game no matter what the juniors threw at them. The game was intense as the clock ran down and the seniors were pushing to get a touchdown before the clocked ticked zero. Finally, within the last five minutes of the game, the seniors’ offense pushed themselves to make their first touchdown, setting the score at 6-6. The clock soon hit zero without either team ahead in score, causing the game to lead into overtime. The teams circled around the fifty-yard line to hear the rules of the overtime game and for the coin toss. Seniors called the toss, but juniors won and decided to hand the ball over to the seniors first. The teams lined the field to start the overtime. The juniors’ defense was succeeding at pushing the seniors back, but the seniors toughed it out at the last down and scored a touchdown, making the score 12-6. The ball was handed to the juniors for their turn to set a tie once again. The intensity rose throughout the stadium to see if the juniors could push it through and go into a double overtime. However, with one down left to go, the seniors intercepted the ball as it was being passed. Cheers roared in the stadium as the seniors won the 2014 Powder Puff game. The senior players crowded to the front of the stadium to receive the spirit stick and celebrate their victory. Congratulations seniors!
